   MISSION STATEMENT
First Christian Church of Carbondale is part of a spiritual movement for wholeness in a fragmented world. Our mission is to walk in the footsteps of Jesus, demonstrating compassion, forgiveness, service to others, stewardship of the Earth and acceptance of all people. We are an Open and Affirming congregation.
 
WELCOME STATEMENT
First Christian Church welcomes you to be a part of our faith community. As an Open and Affirming congregation, we respect all people as beloved children of God. We celebrate what makes us different and unique, while standing united as God's people. We show compassion and respond to the feelings and needs of each person with kindness and empathy. As part of the one body of Christ, we welcome all to the Lord's table for communion. We center our lives in God's vision of community and invite you and your family to join us - to worship and learn, sing and pray, play, hike, eat and help neighbors near and far. We are a joyful community of friends and family, guided by the sacred purpose to be disciples of Christ.

Pastor's Cell Phone
The phone number many of you have for Pastor Karen is the church cell phone. Em Howell accepted a position as FCC's office manager during this transition time and she will now be answering, returning, and redirecting calls and texts from that number as well as the church landline. Please leave a voicemail and Em or another ministry team leader will respond to you within 24 hours. 
 
Interfaith Council will be meeting Tuesday October 6 at 6pm at First Presbyterian.

Youth Group will meet this Thursday, October 8 from 5:30-7:30pm. Youth in grades 6th-12th are welcome to meet at the church for homework, food, and time together.

The church hike is scheduled for Sunday October 18 from 12-2. Join us at Giant City Shelter 5and bring a side to share.

Beyond the Encampments is a community listening session to hear real stories, share perspectives, and discuss the impact of the Carbondale Encampment Ban on people experiencing homelessness. The mayor and several other community professionals will be speaking. This will take place October 15 at 5:30pm at FCC

Derek will be performing  in SIU’s production of “Come From Away,”  October 22 - 25, at Shryock Auditorium.  Here’s the link to purchase tickets:
